COMIC-CON SAN DIEGO 2013

CLIENT: NICKELODEON

--------------------------------------------

For Comic-Con San Diego 2013 Nickelodeon wanted to do something new with their characters that they had never done before.. Bring them into the classic
world of Comic books.

The brief for the artwork revolved around three main objectives. It had to be strong, It had to be simple, and It had to convey a sense of urgency in motion. The well-known Nickelodeon characters had to be born again into a dynamic comic book existence and had to adopt a new, bolder look.  They wanted the characters to literally be jumping
out of the artwork.

Characters were redrawn, recolored and and then repurposed, bringing them into the world of Comic-Con. Halftones were blown up oversize, as were stripes and patterns. Colors overlaid and overlapped as if they were printed on an old press with the registrations
ever so slightly off.

I worked on this project over a couple of months in May and June this year. These artworks were mainly concepts which the Nickelodeon event teams then reconstructed to suit the San Diego Comic-Con booth and the collateral supporting it.
